Adam Gossell is the Senior Manager of the Wildfire Mitigation and FireSmart programs for Alberta Forestry and Parks. Adam is a Registered Professional Forester and a senior wildfire management professional with over 20 years of experience specializing in wildfire prevention and mitigation practices; implementing wildfire risk mitigation at the landscape, community, and homeowner scales
Adam began his career in wildfire management as a wildland firefighter and crew leader with Alberta Wildfire’s Helitack Program. Adam’s held numerous positions in various locations around the province prior to landing at the provincial headquarters in Edmonton. In addition to his provincial responsibilities, Adam has contributed to national and international wildfire management efforts. Adam was on the project team that developed Canada’s Wildfire Prevention and Mitigation Strategy and represents Alberta on the FireSmart Canada committee. He has served on the board of the International Association of Wildland Fire where he pursued every opportunity to raise the profile of Alberta’s FireSmart program globally.
Adam is passionate about mentoring the next generation of FireSmart practitioners and is actively involved with promoting, educating, and empowering others to be FireSmart. Through his leadership, Adam plays a key role in shaping Alberta’s approach to wildfire risk reduction and community safety.
