Fire Chief, Alternate Rural Director at Large

Fire Chief John Liadis began his career in emergency services in late 2005 with the Haldimand County Fire Department in Ontario, serving as a paid-on-call firefighter for eight years. He then relocated to Alberta, where he spent several years in the private sector, specializing in oil and gas emergency response and technical rescue. During that time, he also served as an officer with Leduc County Fire Services.

In 2016, John returned to Ontario to take on a Chief Officer role in the gold mining industry, leading a large surface mining emergency response team. Concurrently, he served with the City of Timmins Fire Department, rising to the rank of Deputy District Chief. He later returned to Alberta to assume the position of Regional Fire Chief and Deputy Director of Emergency Management (DDEM) for Clearwater County.

Over the past year, John has also taken on a Rural Director role and actively contributes to several committees with the Alberta Fire Chiefs Association (AFCA) and the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs (CAFC).

Outside of his professional duties, John co-owns and operates a financial brokerage with his wife and enjoys coaching hockey alongside their two daughters. Committed to continuous learning and leadership development, he is passionate about mentoring future leaders in the fire service and is currently working toward earning his Executive Chief Fire Officer (ECFO) designation.
